I am a professional sign writer and chalkboard artist. I started earning money doing this work, 30 years ago. Other work took me away for a while but in the last ten years or so I have returned using these permanent pens on chalkboards, or blackboards, as we call them in the UK. I have recently taken the ink from the pens and used a brush to apply the ink. This gives a greater flexibility and control as well as being very much quicker to execute. I also enjoy doing calligraphy work in a rather free flow style usually on cloth and again using brushes and paint.
